When HOWARD CARTER finally broke through the wall into a small chamber containing Tutankhamun's sarcophagus, he was faced with breaking into a tomb [the size of an average dining room], inside which, there was yet another room/tomb, inside that there was another room/tomb - and only then did Howard Carter see the first huge sarcophagus, which, in itself contained two other sarcophagi...

Standing guard over this 'Russian Doll' tomb-inside-a-tomb construction were four 36inch high golden statues of a very beautiful goddess - her facial features resembled ELIZABETH TAYLOR - and the four statues of this goddess were heavily stylized, pre-empting American Art Nouveau by thousands of years. The four golden Goddess 'Selket' statues were barefoot, featured little 'backpacks' with hairstyles resembling astronaut helmets.

Upon her head was a super aero-dynamic stylized SCORPION. Indeed Goddess Selket is known as the 'Scorpion Goddess' - but until the Enigma Channel produced our HERITAGE FILM SERIES, the significance of the scorpion was hitherto unknown...

Boring text books and university Egyptology courses teach that Selket, in Egyptian mythology, was 'goddess of the dead' - this is an inaccurate over-simplification...

Her symbolic animal was indeed the scorpion. She was one of the underworld deities charged with protecting the canopic jars in which the intestines of the deceased were stored after embalming... These organs were surgically removed from the corpse of the pharaoh in an elaborate ritualized procedure which had surgical tools made from quartz and 'symbolic' surgical tools for the extraction of the various cocoon-like layers of the soul, such as the freeing of the KA, BA and other doppelgänger invisible ectoplasmic 'doubles' of the physical self...

However, until Chris Everard wrote STONE AGE PSYCHEDELIA and discovered legends in INDIA that Cobra venom was used as a hallucinogen [as is the venom of a toad in Mexico], academia was kind of 'stuck' with any meaningful explanation of the symbolic significance of the scorpion - especially the stylized golden scorpion - upon the head of the goddess Selket/Sequet...

Just recently, the venom from the golden scorpion of Asia has been found to have amazing health benefits - in that it is able to destroy cancer cells and also prohibit brain tumors from developing their own blood supply vessels. Female scorpion venom appears to be more complicated than the male venom - and the Chinese golden scorpion has close cousins which live in Egypt, Libya, Sinai and Lebanon.

As one of the most ancient creatures on Earth, scorpions are widely distributed throughout the world with about 400 million years of evolution. Up to now, there have been approximately 2000 described scorpion species. Scorpions can paralyze or kill the preys and repulse the aggressors by using their venoms - so how and why was it a symbol of a goddess who supposedly protected the extracted organs of the pharaohs in tombs?

Well, scorpion venoms are very complex mixtures composed of different substances, including peptides and proteins. In just one squirt of venom there might be as many as 60 toxic sequences of neurotoxins and enzymes - and some of these toxic potions seem to kill CANCER CELLS.

In traditional Chinese medicine [TCM], extracts from the venom of the Chinese golden scorpion (Mesobuthus martensii) are considered particularly effective against neurological disorders such as chronic pain, paralysis, strokes and epilepsy. In collaboration with Chinese microbiologists, medical researchers at FAU have identified two new active agents extracted from this venom that can stop so-called gliomas, brain tumours that are currently very difficult to treat.

The team led by neuroscientist PD Dr. Nicolai Savaskan were able to show that the two substances, known as CA4 and CTX-23, prevent the rapid division of tumour cells and stop the formation of tumour blood vessels. CTX-23 is a cytotoxin. Likewise, the Egyptian COBRA [worn on the head-dress of pharaohs] has a venom which can also kill cancer cells - and might be especially useful for fighting again brain tumors which would otherwise be inoperable. Cobra Cytotoxins contain chlorotoxin (CTX), a peptide also found in scorpion venom, has been shown to be specific and efficacious in blocking brain tumours.

One theory being researched at the Enigma Channel's HERITAGE office is that we, as a human race, all die from tumor-related problems - and that tumors - especially brain tumors - are Nature's 'OFF SWITCH' designed into DNA to stop our planet [and others like it] being over-run with billions of long living humans. In fact brain surgery represents one of the earliest forms of surgery and it seems that large holes were drilled in skulls possibly to relieve the pressure of tumors - or perhaps even to remove brain tumors - and evidence of this advanced surgery has been found in caves at Shanidar in ancient Iraq.

Now, without question, having a hole drilled Ito your brain would be very painful - but it seems that the ancient surgeons of Egypt knew how to extract morphine from Opium. History books all claim that Morphine was first extracted from opium by the German pharmacist, Serturner, in the early 1800s. He named the extract morphine, after the Greek god of dreams, Morpheus... But we have a new film in production that suggests new evidence shows the pharaohs may have discovered morphine thousands of years before! Toxicological tests on terracotta vases which were imported from Cyprus to ancient Egypt during the 18th dynasty show traces of morphine in the jars - which, themselves, are shaped like inverted opium poppy heads!
